Saint Lucia has launched a project to replace five kilometers of aging water pipeline between the Millet and Vanard pumping stations.
The partnership brings together the Government of Saint Lucia, the Water and Sewerage Company, the Caribbean Development Bank, the Agence Française de Développement, and the Government of Italy. Together, they are providing a US$22.83 million financing package.
The upgraded system is expected to reduce water losses and interruptions, add bulk meters, and introduce a modern system for monitoring the network in real time.
More than 56,000 residential and commercial customers are expected to benefit, including people served by more than 58 percent of the water company's customer accounts. Those benefits will come as the work is completed.
