The Sharing Kindness Foundation brought its volunteers to the Jackson informal settlement in Johannesburg South on July 20, where they prepared and served meals to children.
The foundation says between 150 and 200 children receive a meal every day through the initiative. The aim is simple: help with daily hunger while reminding vulnerable families that their neighbors have not forgotten them.
The meals were made possible with help from several community partners. Alberton LewenSentrum Gemeente and Resthaven Ministries donated vegetables, while Rainbowtarps and Sandlinings provided meat for the meals.
Founder Nic Janse van Rensberg said the work is a shared effort. The foundation has invited more local people to support its outreach so the daily meals can continue.
