When a tornado tore through Menasha’s Doty Island, it destroyed Ann Allen’s garage and scattered boxes of family photographs across the neighborhood.
Neighbor Jamin Homan found several pictures in his yard while clearing storm debris. He did not know the people in them, so he posted the photographs in a Facebook lost-and-found group for tornado victims.
Friends of friends helped identify the family, and Homan returned the pictures to Allen through a friend. Another neighbor also recognized Allen’s late son, Eric, in some of the photographs and walked pictures back to the family.
The storm caused painful damage, but the neighbors’ care helped return pieces of a family’s history.
