New York has launched New Efficient Homes New York, a program designed to make new homes more comfortable, healthier, and less costly to run.
The state energy authority said the wider investment totals $135 million. That includes $100 million for residential construction at different stages and $75 million in incentives for heat pumps in new homes.
Another $25 million will help builders and design teams plan energy-saving features, while more than $12 million has already gone to 10 demonstration projects for climate-friendly multifamily buildings.
The programs will support fully electric heating and cooling in eligible projects, with extra help available for developments in communities identified as disadvantaged.
